Salzburger Master Flaker with gear drive – nut

More possibilities – More functionality through gears!

Salzburger Master Flaker with gear drive - beechWhat do gears do?

  • No spinning of the rollers: The functional efficiency of the device is considerably increased by the use of toothed wheels. It is common knowledge that rollers can spin. In this new model, one roller is driven directly by the crank and the second roller by the gears. This prevents annoying spinning.
  • More possibilities to press various seeds, e.g. also sunflower seeds – With various grain crushers it is impossible to press such large seeds as e.g. sunflower seeds.
  • No sticking when pressing very oily seeds. Sticking (and thus spinning of the rollers) very often occurs when pressing linseed, poppy seeds, etc.

In this new Salzburger Master Flaker with gear drive, one roller is driven directly by the crank, the second roller by the gears.
The woodturning work of a local master craftsman shows highest quality and accuracy.

The sleek design is combined with perfect technology down to the smallest detail.
Craftsmanship you can grab.
From A to Z handwork from the Salzburger-Land – every piece is unique.

For a good morning!

“Breakfast like an emperor,” goes the old adage, and modern science doesn’t change that.

A healthy start to daily life is important. Whether for school, in the office or in the workshop: Homemade breakfast cereal gives you strength and energy!

Industrially produced flakes often have a shelf life of years. Due to the high heating, mostly via steam, important vitamins and enzymes are destroyed. It is obvious that the industry does not provide much information about this.
Therefore, the statements on the packaging do not say much about the value of the flakes. In short, organic quality does not mean wholesome!

“BIO” is an important basic requirement for healthy eating. Even the best, organically grown grain can become almost worthless if treated incorrectly.

NOT ONLY FLAKING – Grind also different spices with the Flaker: Press e.g. the spices for your bread with the Master Flaker
The flaker delivers larger, thinner flakes. These can be crumbled by hand into tiny particles in seconds.
Testimony of a professional chef: “The spices are crushed better with the flaker than with any mortar!?
The spices distribute wonderfully in the bread. Due to this, one feels, for example, fennel not as a condiment in bread. The flavor of the fennel is all over the bread!”

For the technically interested, here are the details:

Materials

  • All wooden parts are made of selected, high quality walnut wood. The walnut wood comes exclusively from domestic forests.
  • The rollers are made of nickel-free steel.
  • The gears are cut from corrosion-resistant stainless steel plates.
  • The scraper plates are also made of stainless steel.
  • The crank is made of stainless steel and a handle made of beech, oak or walnut wood.
  • The table clamp is a standard commercial item and is available with a larger span on request.

Components

  • Base frame
The Y-shape of the uprights combines technical necessity with aesthetic design. The two rear uprights are wider to cover the gears. All 4 uprights are used to hold the rollers and scraper plates, as well as to fix the hopper. A table stop is integrated into the base plate. The table clamp is recessed in the stop, which provides greater stability. All edges are rounded.
  • Funnel
The round, finely crafted shape of the funnel is completely edge-free on the inside. This jointless production avoids residues of seeds and grains. A possible contamination is therefore excluded. The hopper base plate forms the transition from the rectangular shape of the uprights to the round shape of the hopper. The funnel unit is attached to the uprights using 4 wooden dowels. The hopper unit can be removed without tools for cleaning work on the rollers. Furthermore, the hopper base plate covers the face of the gear protection (child protection). Hopper removal – see operating instructions.
  • Inlet wedge
On the underside of the hopper base plate is the feed wedge through which the grain flows to the rollers.
  • Rollers
The two nickel-free stainless steel rollers move in opposite directions, with the left roller being driven by the hand crank. The internal crank thread runs outwards, the power is transmitted from the face of the crank thread to the face of the roller. Internal and external threads thus remain free of frictional connections. Both rollers have 2 smooth round surfaces, which have a larger diameter than the knurls. This avoids damage to the knurl during forceful fine adjustment. The counter-rotating knurls cause the squeezing process.
  • Gears
The two corrosion-resistant stainless steel gears are pressed onto the rollers in a separate process after they have been manufactured. The gear wheels ensure perfect power transmission to the rollers, which is particularly important with very fat seeds such as linseed.
  • Door hinge screws
Wing nuts are fitted to the two gate hinge bolts (which pass through the base frame of the flaker). This is used to adjust the distance between the rollers and to determine the thickness of the tufts.
Fine adjustment – see operating instructions.
  • Gear cover
Sophisticated wooden cladding protects against injuries. In the protective cover there are slotted holes which, in conjunction with wooden pegs, ensure stable fastening. The conical oblong holes, the narrow wooden bars and the contours can only be made of the best quality wood.
The cover is attached and removed without tools. See operating instructions.
  • Wooden pegs
The cover of the gear wheels is fixed to the base frame by 4 wooden pins. The wooden pegs are not commercial goods, they are made especially for this flocker. Due to the conical flank on the spigot, the protective cover is always placed centrically. The spigot stop ensures an equal installation depth and thus a tight closure.
  • Scraper plates
The stainless steel scraper plates remove the flock material from the rollers
  • Hand crank
The hand crank is made of stainless steel and the handle is made of walnut. The external thread is turned into the thread of the left roller.
  • Loading
The flocked material falls from the rollers into the drawer, which is located between the uprights on the base plate.
  • Wedge
To loosen the crank after a flocking process, use the enclosed wooden wedge – see operating instructions.
  • Brass brush
The brass brush supplied is used to clean the rollers and the scraper plates as well as the feed wedge – see operating instructions.
